  Handle with care
Some friends are as roses,
handle with care.

Time neglected,
the thorns find their way to your rosy fingertip with expert abandon;
beauty in blood;
red bloody red course.

i dream of ancient Celts,
their wedding incarnate,
petals lined the arches
in beds of roses.

in my bed,
friends and thorns alike.

  believing this is shade

In fields of ashen fodder,

Rains on us as snow

Hot
sifted
drifting rows
Where once
the mighty stood.

An answer to a call,

of those not heard,
the Dreaming time,
when all founts alive,
& All matters grave,
Calling to this seeming rhyme.

This stand of birch misleads the eye,

...believing this is shade.

  The times, they are a'changin'

The alternate view is that the more things change, the more they remain the same. We can make the difference. It's how we live, how we dance, how we sing this song. It's the music that you choose.

I am, of course, referring to the political scene.

But here's something else that's changing, and maybe it's in some strange way, related with this winner-take-all mentality that the American political spectrum encourages.  This may well be the last post I will make through Google's Blogger tool.  In their infinite wisdom, they are phasing out FTP access to 3rd party websites from Blogger.  Their solution is to tell everyone they can host their blog directly with them.  But only a small portion of the pages on this site are built with their tool.  Maybe it's time for a change to Wordpress - I can host that myself without being part of the machine.

  Iron over Earth
I am pretty happy with the way this turned out.  It's a rendering of iron, industrialized over a wood park bench, over simple earth.  It's so simple and essential, bringing out the warmth of the day.

  Seven dreams combined
Seven dreams combined,
poetic shenanigans,
a story unfolds.

Haunted figurines,
the shelves come alive at night,
painting reflections.

Looking and seeing,
these are not always the same,
reflections within.

Light illuminates,
the time to see the future,
stands avant shadows.

Techno logical,
Pulsing harmonics refrain,
You are swirling light.

----
I have really been enjoying the contrast in my latest works.  I feel there are so many shades, so much nuance between the pixels to be explored.

In 'Seven Dreams Combined', I have coined several refrains in a haiku style.  These were actually individual tweets sent out at various different times, but taken together, comprise a wholly new poetic image.

  Human

Sensual.  Human.

I am of a mind to rethink last night's illusion that was posted, to think the original art needed no words to convey the meaning.

Alas, words that are used to define can limit, and there is no limit to all that is.

Created a greeting card and some t-shirts from this art ... hope you will enjoy. View more

  Can you hide (the sexual)

We are all segmented, in some ways, like words cut from a magazine.

We are all of the yin and the yang, the male and the female.

There is contrast. There is balance.

Can you hide my goodness,
the body busting,
I am allowed my tears.

  New Year's Day 2010

So many changes in 2009. The end of this century's first decade will be remembered by a lackluster economy, a fatalistic employment rate, war, and the crash of the housing market.  Reminiscent of a depression near-miss, the past 6 months have at least shown more appearance of an upswing.

2010 promises to be about new beginnings. Kick-starts from the depths of strife, to new visions, new opportunities, born from the epiphany that every thought deserves an action. The Boomer generation had it right when they said that if you aren't part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.

Without action, it's just a moment of a dream, reflected in a grassroots haze of bong smoke.  So much talk from the last election still echoes in the empty music halls.

A symbolic metaphor of what we collectively desire must be vocalized in art, life, and the daily works. Nothing changes on New Year's Day.  It's what is done on every other day that matters.
